Generation Interns

Judah and Chelsea Smith served as youth pastors at The City Church for seven years until Judah became the Preaching Pastor, in January, 2009. In September, 2009, Judah and Chelsea became the church’s Lead Pastors. Judah’s messages and impact have reached far beyond The City Church. He is a featured speaker at church conferences and other Christian church-related events in the U.S. and around the world. His video podcast (GCTV) was featured on iTunes and is consistently ranked among the top 100 religious podcasts. He has an estimated 30,000 listeners online and his Twitter account (@judahsmith).

Dr. Wendell Smith and his wife Gini are the Founding Pastors of The City Church in Seattle, Washington. The Smiths pioneered the church in 1992 and were the Sr. Pastors for eighteen years. Under their leadership, The City Church grew from a launch team of twenty-one people into a multi-ethnic church of thousands. The City Church is known for its faith and its balanced, biblical teaching on prosperity. It is active in giving to the poor and needy and in funding ministries throughout the world. The church meets at multiple locations in the Seattle area, a strategy that has reproduced its effectiveness in reaching many communities throughout the area. Weekend services are simulcast live to all locations and transmitted to tens of thousands of people via Internet and weekly television programs.

Jude Fouquier and his wife Becky are the Senior Associate Pastors at The City Church in Kirkland, Washington. They also serve as directors of the Generation Intern leadership training program. After graduating from Oral Roberts University in 1985, Pastor Jude became a Youth Pastor and has served for over seventeen years in youth ministry. He was first a Youth Pastor under Wally and Marilyn Hickey at the Happy Church and then helped pioneer The City Church in 1992 with Pastors Wendell and Gini Smith.

Jonathan Smith graduated from Northwest University in 1998 with a BA in Secondary Education, and from Capella University in 2005 with a Masters in Education. He spent five years teaching and administrating at Cedar Park Christian School. Jon has worked with Generation Interns since 2002 and is now directing the program along with Pastor Jude. Jon has been a member of The City Church since 1993, and he and his wife Rose have been married for over 11 years. Jon and Rose are also the campus pastors of the City Church’s Alderwood campus, and are the parents of twins. He is passionate in his ministry to raise up leaders in a new generation and see them affecting every aspect of our culture.

Jamie Sperte is the Director of Registration and Academics for the Generation Intern program. She originally joined the GI team in July of 2006 as the program’s administrator and assistant to Pastor Jude Fouquier. Jamie served as a Generation Intern in 2001 through 2003 and then she went on to receive her degree in Political Science and History from Northwest University in Kirkland, WA. Jamie has been a member and leader at The City Church since 1998 when her family moved to Seattle from the East Coast. She has a conviction to see young leaders equipped and prepared to fulfill their calling, rooted and grounded in the truth of the Word of God.

Kaylee completed two years of interns from 2003-2005 and went on to finish her degree. She earned her BA in European Studies at the University of Washington. During her time at UW, she had the opportunity to study and work for 6 months in Europe. It was there that she developed a passion for other cultures, photography and the art of a good cup of coffee. She moved back to Seattle in search of a job and joined The Generation Interns team as the Program Administrator in October of 2009. She has faithfully served in Generation Church and been an integral part of the Worship and Creative Arts ministry of The City Church since 2003. Kaylee has a great desire to see young people discover and fulfill the purpose of God in their lives.

Tiffany Dooley is a graduate from the Art Institute in Seattle, WA with an Associate of Applied Arts degree in Graphic Design and has since worked in various departments at The City Church including media, GC and interns. Tiffany graduated from 2 years of faithful service as a Generation Intern in 2004. She has served as the Resident Director for the Plateau dorms since 2005, contributing to the atmosphere of excellence at the dorms and helping to facilitate the optimal environment for spiritual growth in the dorm residents. Along with substitute teaching and overseeing the young women in the intern program, Tiffany is the Campus Pastor at the GC Central District campus and leads a dynamic cadre in Generation Church. Tiffany is passionate about seeing young leaders take on the image and nature of Christ, developing their full potential and having their minds renewed by the Word of God.
